THEY
improv, Broward County's improv troupe, has performed to benefit
the Miami Children's Hospital "Radio Lollipop" program
at the world famous Miami Improv in their annual event in 2006
and 2007.
Joining together with Laughing Gas (South Florida's longest running
improv troupe) and Majic 102.7's Joe Johnson, THEY brought laughter
and joy to the over 280 in attendance. This rare jaunt into Miami-Dade
County was a huge success for the charity and a fun time for all
involved. The 2007 event alone raised $11,000 for the charity!
"Our
'Comedy With a Cause' program
has successfully raised a lot of money for charity while bringing
top-notch performances to South Florida audiences," said
THEY Director Todd Rice. "We make people laugh when they
are in the mood to laugh. Radio Lollipop brings laughter where
it is far rarer. They provide humor and enjoyment for audiences
of children at the hospital that truly need to be entertained
the most. We're happy to help any way we can."
Radio Lollipop believes in the healing power of play, having begun
in 1978 at Queen Mary's Hospital for Children in Surrey England.
Since it's beginning, the program has expanded to Australia, New
Zealand, and of course the United States. More information on
Radio Lollipop is available on their website at www.radiolollipop.org
or at the Miami Children's Hospital website at www.mch.com/patient/radio_lollipop.htm.
On August 14th, 1996, Miami Children's became the first hospital
in the United States to host a Radio Lollipop.
THEY
improv continues to change the face of Comedy in South
Florida, taking improv shows to a whole new level. This time with
the help of Majic 102.7. The station is a valuable member of this
effort and has offered an extreme amount of support for the cause.
"The Majic 102.7 Majic Children's
Fund is a wonderful organization," said THEY Director Todd
Rice. "We're happy that we've found a kindred spirit and
hope that we can continue to work together to help make a positive
contribution to the community."
Keep
returning to the THEY improv
website for information about upcoming performances and a possible
return to the Miami Improv next year for a third annual Radio
Lollipop benefit.
