FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
THEY improv to provide 'Justifiable Homicide'
in a show of Titanic proportions on Pompano Beach to benefit people
with developmental disabilities on June 6th.
Pompano
Beach, FL: THEY improv, leaders in South Florida
comedy, continues its pioneering ways with a benefit murder mystery
performance on Wednesday, June 6th at 7pm at "The New Mermaid"
in Pompano Beach.
The show will be themed on 'The Titanic' with all patrons being
onboard the infamous ship.
"Not to worry," said Director of THEY improv Todd Rice,
"Those attending are in first class so will have first dibs
on the lifeboats."
The evening will feature a crazy cast of characters amidst murder
and mayhem. A night that will not soon be forgotten all for a
great cause, the Whispering Oaks residential program for people
with developmental disabilities.
Whispering Oaks is a residential program, offering a variety of
services to young men and women that have multiple abilities.
Each person living here has their own room, often for the first
time in their lives. It allows them the opportunity to grow and
learn and become productive members of society.
"The
state is imposing large budget cuts in the areas that support
people with developmental disabilities," said Merisa Lavere,
the Development Coordinator for Resources for Human Development
that runs Whispering Oaks. "The people we serve are faced
with unbelievable challenges every day, as part of their normal
life. Our challenge is to raise the funds needed to help them
become more independent and to find the community support needed
to help us achieve our goals."
This
marks one of the first uses of the THEY improv 'Justifiable Homicide'
program using Murder Mystery shows to benefit area charities.
THEY improv is already well known for raising tens of thousands
of dollars for charity through their Comedy With A Cause program,
and this is a new extension of that program.
"We love helping where we can," said THEY improv Director
Todd Rice. "It's hard to imagine anything more important
than helping a program that helps people to help themselves."
The event will be well-attended and is for a great cause. Come
and support this event. If you would like to attend or just to
see how you can help, call Merisa Lavere at 561-870-5227 or via
email at rhdmerisa@aol.com. You can also leave a message on the
THEY improv Hotline at (305) 948-7750.
This Titanic event will be at "The New Mermaid" located at 1437
S. Powerline Road in Pompano Beach on June 6th at 7:00PM. There
will be a 50/50 raffle that night with raffle tickets $2 each
or 6 for $10. You do not need to be present to win.
Tickets for the event are $60, with tables of 10 discounted at
$550 for the table. The ticket includes dinner consisting of a
salad, choice of entree, dessert, coffee, tea and soft drinks.
There is a cash bar for beer, wine and liquor. There is no age
restriction or drink minimum.
