October 26, 2011: Village brings Murder Mystery Dinner Theater to Park
by Nadia Sorocka
Wellington is offering a night of fun and mystery with the first Murder Mystery Dinner Theater from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at Village Park, 11500 Pierson Road. The adult dinner centers on a murder mob scenario where actors from They Improv, a Fort Lauderdale-based acting troupe, interact with the guests, creating a who-done-it environment.
"We wanted to bring something fun for the residents," community programs manager Michelle Garvey said.
Staff first got the idea to have an event like this after visiting a mini conference, she said.
"We heard other towns were hosting events like this and they were a success, so we thought we should try it in Wellington," Garvey said.
The evening will begin with a social hour that features wine, cheese and crackers, and this is also when the interactive theater experience begins with the seven actors from They Improv.
Everyone will get the chance to be an actor during the event, director Todd Rice said. The story will take guests through a fictional 1920's Wellington, in which two rival gang factions the North and the South sides are fighting for control.
