THEY improv's Justifiable Homicide Murder Mystery Show Featured in the New Times Broward / Palm Beach

June 6, 2007: Does This Soup Come with a Life Vest?
by Jamie Laughlin

Funding cutbacks inflicted on the handicapped and the developmentally disabled - hey, it's hard to conjure a more tragic occurrence. The only thing that could trump it in the "life's biggest drags" competition might be something truly horrific, like, say, the sinking of the Titanic. This makes one question why the folks at Whispering Oaks - a noble and valiant organization that crusades in the fight for equality among persons of various ableness levels - would pick the most catastrophic of all possible settings to create ambiance for its murder mystery dinner party and fundraiser. But they did just that! Oh, and don't bother checking your coat at the door; we have a feeling you won't need it again.

Wednesday night, step aboard the Titanic and try to solve the noir whodunit before anyone else. (Here's a hint: The killer is really big, white and made of ice. Hmmm?) But that's not the point of the night. Neither is the feasting and fun that you'll have with your friends. The main point of the evening is to raise some much-needed ducats for Whispering Oaks, a local facility that provides shelter and nurturing relationships for people with developmental disabilities. So go, bring friends, feel good about being a contributor, and for God's sake, bring your floaties. Dinner is at Little Mermaid (1437 S. Powerline Rd., Pompano Beach). Tickets cost $60. Call 561-870-5227 to RSVP.
