THEY
improv doubled the benefit with two shows for the Leukemia & Lymphoma
Society 'Team in Training' Program.
Fort
Lauderdale, FL: THEY improv, South Florida's
Comedy With A Cause, continued their effort at
changing the face of comedy with their benefit performances for
the Leukemia & Lypmphoma Society 'Team in Training' at the
Hollywood Improv (Wednesday, September 6th) and teaming up with
Lake Worth troupe Mod27 at the Palm Beach Improv (Tuesday, September
12th).
The
shows featured 90 minutes of improvised comedy utilizing the best
comedic talent to help the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in
their mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and
myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their
families through their Team in Training (TNT) program.
TNT
is the world's largest endurance sports training program, and
the leading fundraising campaign of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
This year, TNT will train 30,000 people - from novice to seasoned
athlete - to run or walk a marathon or half marathon, cycle a
century ride or complete an Olympic distance triathlon. As part
of this effort they raise money to sponsor their efforts. More
information on the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society can be found
at their website, www.lls.org.
More information about the Team in Training program can be found
at their website at www.teamintraining.org.
The
show on Wednesday, September 6th at 8pm at the Improv at the Seminole
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino featured the cast members of THEY
improv providing non-stop comedy for 90 minutes in a top notch
no-holds barred show. A statue of Batman and Robin was donated
by Aventura Mall's Animation Shops. This statue was raffled to
raise additional funds for the event. Information about Animation
Shops can be found on their website at www.animationshops.com
or at their store in Aventura Mall.
The
show at the Palm Beach improv featured THEY improv and the much
acclaimed Lake Worth troupe MOD27 joining together in a show featuring
the top performers that South Florida has to offer. MOD27 is one
of the premier improv troupes anywhere and has headlined improv
festivals across the country. Beyond that, they are local to Palm
Beach and perform normally in Lake Worth. More information about
Mod27 is available on their website at www.mod27.com.
This 90 minute show left the audiences laughing and crying for
more.
These two-of-a-kind comedy shows had all the tickets being sold
by the TNT volunteers to be applied towards their fundraising
goals.
A special thanks has to go the the support and assistance provided
by the Improv Comedy Clubs of South Florida. Their venues are
among the top venues of South Florida and may have been the only
way to provide benefits such as this with one organization in
multiple locations. Their continued efforts at benefiting the
community around them are appreciated and can not be overstated.
More information about the Improv and how to book events at their
venues is available on their website at www.palmbeachimprov.com
or www.improvftl.com.
"We're
happy to be able to find a way that we can actually help make
a difference," said THEY improv director Todd Rice. "The
daunting task of fighting Leukemia seems way too big. These volunteers
are taking the steps needed to find a cure and put up the good
fight. Our improv shows might not be able to stop cancer alone,
but we can help the people who are working to make a difference,
while also making them laugh."
THEY improv provides their Comedy With A Cause program
to help local charities find the recognition and fundraising they
need, while not one penny goes to the improv troupe for their
performance. These shows have helped raise tens of thousands of
dollars for local charities and awareness for their causes. If
you would like to find out how you can help the Comedy With A
Cause program, you should contact THEY improv directly.
