Atlanta is the home of the world's busiest airport, which serves
as the hub for many national and international airlines including
Delta.
For sports, Atlanta rivals any city in the union, with the Falcons,
Braves and Hawks leading the way. In addition, there are teams
playing arena football, women's takle football, rollerball and
ice hockey.
History covers the area. Whether it's Stone Mountain or the many older homes that adorn the area, there's something to remind of days gone by and to educated future generations as to the past.
Virginia Highland's laid-back attitude provides it with great bars that make great venues. Castleberry Hill is known for jazz, and nothing is more improvisational than jazz. Buford Highway travels through town and has pretty much every sort of ethnic food you can think of. Little Five Points has great bars and restaurants for your corporate events or private parties. Cabbagetown is an up and comer and you might want to check out the options there.
Buckhead is an affluent area that has major areas for shopping including Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza along with the associated high-class restaurants and hotels that go with such quality. The people here expect quality attention and THEY improv works to provide it.
Midtown is the center of the art scene for Metro Atlanta and is situated between downtown and Buckhead. Home to the Fox Theatre, Woodruff Arts Center, the High Museum of Art, the Museum of Design Atlanta, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Center for Puppetry Arts, the 14th Street Playhouse, the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and other arts institutions, you might call this the heart of Altanta.
Downtown includes the areas of Castleberry Hill, Centennial Hill, Fairlie-Poplar, Five Points, the Hotel District, Luckie Marietta, Peachtree Center, SoNo and South Downtown. It contains the state government along with most of the major buildings you would associated with Metro Atlanta. Its skyline and sporting venues dominate the landscape.
East Point is located near the airport and has pretty much everything you can think of, as well as easy access to Atlanta.
The Perimeter, which is what I-285 is referred to, especially on the northern section around Dunwoody and Sandy Springs, is a loop around town that separates the inner areas from the suburbs and is one of the most busy interstates in the area. Major companies from around the globe are headquartered around the Perimeter and just about every major hotel and restaurant chain has representation somewhere along the way. It has become a buzzing business district and offers a variety ethnic dining along Buford Highway. There's also wilderness and outdoor sports options like Chattahoochee River rafting. This is to not even mention the mall, which we just apparently did.
